Thread lift treatments edinburgh

A thread lift is a type of face lift that is often referred to as the ‘lunch hour lift’. This is down to its simplicity and the time it takes to carry out the procedure.

A tiny entry will be made by the ear then fine threads are advanced along pre-marked contours.

The threads are made from polydioxanone (PDO) – the same material used for medical stitches – which dissolve naturally in the body over time.

Once the threads are in place, your body starts to produce new bundles of collagen around each thread and this in turn creates a subtle yet effective lift. The results differ for each person, but are very natural giving a rejuvenated and refreshed look. There is no scarring and recovery times are a lot less than those associated with traditional surgery.

FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • What are thread treatments, and how do they work?

PDO (Polydioxanone) thread treatments are a non-surgical procedure where dissolvable threads are inserted into the skin to lift and tighten sagging or loose areas. These threads stimulate collagen production, resulting in improved skin texture and firmness.

  • Is the procedure painful, and is there any downtime?

Thread treatments are minimally invasive and typically well-tolerated. Local anesthesia is used to numb the treatment area, minimizing discomfort. Most patients can resume their daily activities after the procedure, although some redness or swelling may occur and can last for a few days.

  • How long do the results of thread lift treatments last?

The longevity of results can vary from person to person, but on average, the effects can last from 12 to 18 months. The threads gradually dissolve over time, but the collagen production stimulated by the treatment continues to support skin rejuvenation.

  • Who is an ideal candidate for thread treatments?

Thread treatments are suitable for individuals who have mild to moderate skin laxity and want to improve the appearance of sagging skin on the face or body. A consultation with a qualified practitioner can determine whether this treatment is appropriate for your specific concerns.

  • Are there any potential side effects or risks associated?

While thread treatments are generally safe, as with any medical procedure, there are potential risks, such as bruising, infection, or mild asymmetry. These risks are minimized by choosing a reputable practitioner who follows proper safety protocols and providing thorough post-treatment care. It's essential to discuss any concerns with your provider before undergoing the procedure.
